SORRY everyone! I know it's been a couple of days... I hope everyone had a great weekend!

As many of you (probably) know the VMAs (Video Music Awards) were on MTV last night.

The big winners were Lady Gaga with 6 wins and Eminem with 2.
Lady Gaga won the top award for video of the year with Bad Romance.

Another great artist to check out is Florence + the Machine.
I recommend the tracks Dog Days Are Over (which she performed at the VMAs) and Cosmic Love off her album Lungs.

As far as film goes I'm really looking forward to The Social Network coming out October 1st.
It's the story and drama of how facebook became the largest social site. It's directed by David Fincher (Fight Club, Zodiac, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) and written be Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing).

Until next time...

Sooo now that summer is coming to an end (and let's face it, we didn't really get that much of a summer here in SD...weather wise) I've been reflecting on summer movies...or movies for 2010.  When I look back at the year in film so far it's been somewhat of a disappointment.  Though I'd been waiting for Tim Burton's take on Alice in Wonderland for years I didn't really enjoy it as much as I thought I would.  All of the characters looked really cool (of course) but my biggest disappointment was that Burton made wonderland make sense.  Yes it has a level of fantasy to it, yes it was heartfelt, but it also had order, society, and even ended in the all too over done epic battle at the end.  Wonderland becomes less of a mystery and more of a war zone. Unlike Burton's Alice, the original animated Disney version of the classic novel has all the oddity and disorder of a dreamworld.

anyway...I'll get off this tangent.

...so for the summer of 2010 two films stand out to me.

first, Inception. It's the blockbuster, big-budget, special effects driven film that we've all been waiting for. It's got a great cast (Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page, Marion Cotillard, and of course Cillian Murphy) and a great soundtrack by Hanz Zimmer (download Time and Dream is Collapsing from the album).
anyway the real reason this film is so great is the creative force behind it...Christopher Nolan.  Like his previous films Inception is the right balance of flash and substance.

second, The Kids Are All Right. It's a realistic portrayal of a modern American family. Julianne Moore and Annette Bening are very convincing as a couple. Some of the scenes in the film just feel so realistic (such as the scene where Mia Wasikowska's character moves into her dorm room.

Since fall is pretty much here check out H&M and Urban Outfitters for sweaters, coats, hoodies etc. there stores lend themselves to great fall styles.  H&M has some really good deals too.  Urban Outfitters has a really extensive online store as well...check it out!

until next time...

For my first post I've been trying to think of what I should put, and in reviewing what I've been into currently I'd have to say:

Hard Candy- It's an awesome film starring Ellen Page, Patrick Wilson, and Sandra Oh...and that's it! The whole film takes place at Jeff's house (Patrick Wilson) and keeps you captivated the whole time.  Eventhough it came out in 2005 (pre Page's Juno fame) it is the film that I feel best displays her acting talent. I just saw it for the first time a week ago but still find myself thinking about it. It's the best psychological drama I've seen in awhile.  I highly recommend you go watch this!

As far as music goes...I've been listening to the band Atlas Sound recently.  They have a great sound! I recommend (for starters) to download their song Walkabout from their Logos album.

Now for a tip in clothing...Every guy should have at least one pair of nice black or dark brown dress shoes/ boots.  On a recent trip to Vegas some of the guys in the group had trouble getting into clubs due to a lack of nice shoes. This was a big downer. Remember, when you're going out you wanna look sharp from your head to your toe.

until next time...
